EARTHQUAKE ROCKS GUNUNGSITOLI, N SUMATRA
Bengkulu, Feb 27 (ANTARA) - A tectonic earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale jolted Gunugnsitoli district, North Sumatra, at 12.25 local time on Friday.
The local meteorological and geophysics agency (BMG) said the epicenter of the earthquake was located at 1.53 degrees north latitude and 96.88 degrees eastern longitude.
It was located some 84 km northwest of Gunungsitoli at a depth of 24 km, the BMG said. This is the third quake which shook the region over the last one week.
The previous quakes measured 5.4 on the Richter scale (on Feb 24) and 5.9 Richter scale (on Feb 23). ***3***
