SOME STATE ENTERPRISES FACING LIQUIDATION

Gresik, E Java, Feb 27 (ANTARA) - A number of state enterprises are on the brink of liquidation for failure in meeting government targets, State Minister of State Enterprises Sofyan Djalil said.

Speaking to the press after attending the dedication of an NPK plant of PT Petrokimia Gresik on Friday some of the state enterprises soon to be liquidated are PT Industri Soda Indonesia (ISI), PT KKA di Nanggroe Aceh Darusalam, and PT Semen Kupang, while PT Iglas and PT Boma Bisma Indra were allowed to continue operating.

Liquidation, Sofyan said, did not mean total shut down, only their management had to be replaced.

"Thus these companies will be revived. The former workers may seek another job, and we will give them whatever they are entitled to," he said.

In 2009 some state enterprises have drawn government attention, one was PT PAL, apparently because the company was still regarded to have a potential for development.

Another reason is that many contracts of work on shipbuilding projects with a small income, and therefore failed to complete the project according to schedule. Consequently this caused a loss to the company, while many skilled personnel had quit.
