National Oncology Council to be launched in March

Manama, Feb. 22 (BNA): The National Oncology Council (NOC) will be officially launched in March. "The newly-established panel will start holding meetings next month", said King Hamad University Hospital Commander Major-General Dr. Shaikh Salman bin Ateyatalla Al-Khalifa. In a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), he said that the step aims at bringing all medical competences in Bahrain together in one board that provides consultancy therapeutic plan for treating new tumour patients. The Supreme Council for Health (SCH) has already approved the establishment of the National Oncology Council and set its legal framework to regulate its work. The board will convene to discuss the conditions of new tumor patients, based on their doctors’ reports, to ensure them premium holistic therapies. King Hamad Oncology Centre director Dr. Elyes Fadhel said that the new council would serve as a link between all medical competences and the tumour patients. Speaking to (BNA), he said that the newly-established panel would hold two meetings weekly at the King Hamad University Hospital and the King Hamad Oncology Centre. The sessions will be attended by consultant doctors specialized in surgery, diagnostic radiology, therapeutic radiology, chemotherapy, nuclear medicine and tissue study and other related medical specialties.
