Shura concerned about escalating violence in Ghouta

Manama, Feb. 22 (BNA): The Shura Council expressed concern over the escalating violence and the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Eastern Ghouta, Syria, calling for intensifying international efforts to protect the civilians from armed conflicts and to facilitate access of humanitarian, medical and food assistance to them. In a statement issued today, the Shura Council stressed support for international efforts to reach a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis based on the principles of the Geneva 1 Declaration and UN Security Council Resolution 2254, which preserves the nation-state sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity. It also emphasized the need to continue action to eliminate all forms of terrorism and violence there.
