GPIC participates Bahrain International Garden Show

Manama, Feb. 25 (BNA): The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) is taking part in the Bahrain International Garden Show 2018 as part of its policy of supporting the environment and encouraging steps that would increase the country’s green areas. The show, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, is being held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre from February 22 to 25 on the theme, Food Safety and Human Health. The show is being held with the support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the KIng, President of the Supreme Council for Women, Chairperson of the Consultative Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) and Honorary President of the Supreme Organising Committee of the show. Visitors and guests from within and outside Bahrain are taking part in the show, which represents the importance of health care in general and knowledge of the methods used to ensure the health of agricultural crops in particular. It also shows the Kingdom of Bahrain’s farmers and consumers must know the health and safety condition of food product to achieve relative food security. The show this year is focussing on the agricultural sector as Bahrain’s strategic objective. This includes a growing desire to unify national efforts to activate the concept on the ground and supporting Bahrain’s economic and social objectives. Environmental aspects of the development of the agricultural sector, based on principles of social justice, competitiveness and the protection of biodiversity are also on show. Her Royal Highness visited GPIC pavilion during the opening ceremony along with guests and dignitaries. HRH was received by Company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and the members of the Executive Management. HRH Princess Sabeeka praised GPIC’s efforts to support the environment and the agricultural sector and its growing interest in the environment. She also praised the Company's achievements and applauded its winning local, regional and international awards in the field. She also spoke about the Company's safety record and its efforts to encourage community activities and events to promote environmental awareness. Dr. Jawahery thanked Her Royal Highness for the visit and said it was an opportunity to inform her about the Company’s initiatives in the field of environmental care, in particular her patronage of the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector, which aims at spreading awareness of an agricultural culture, developing educational and training systemsand supporting and rehabilitating farmers. Dr. Jawahery said that GPIC is proud of its cooperation with all of the green initiatives launched by Her Royal Highness and comes from its desire to develop green spaces and creating awareness of the importance of the agricultural sector in achieving sustainable development. He said the show is one of the most important events in the Company's calendar and asserted the Companyis keen to provide sponsorship and set up a pavilion, where it displays the products it manufactures. Visitors to the pavilion are introducedon the importance and methods of using fertilizers, including the premium urea fertilizer produced by the Company, which is exported to the world’s leading markets. Samples of this fertilizer are also distributed free of cost to those attending the show, in addition to educational brochures. Dr. Jawahery thanked the show organizers, in particular the Secretary General of the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector, H.E. SheikhaMaram Bint Isa Al Khalifa, and praised their efforts to prepare for the event. He also praised those behind the setting up of GPIC pavilion and said it received accolades from the visitors and guests every year.
