YUDHOYONO-KALLA RELATIONS REMAIN HARMONIOUS

Semarang, Feb 28 (ANTARA) - The chairman of the Golkar Party's advisory board, Surya Paloh, said the relations between President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Vice President Yusuf Kalla continue to be harmonious.

"Harmonious relations between the two political figures constitute their joint commitment," Paloh said on the sidelines of a consolidation meeting of Golkar's Central Java chapter at the Gumaya Hotel here on Saturday.

Although the end of the present government's term was only eight months ahead, it should not run into snags just because of Yudhoyono's and Kalla's intention to run in the presidential race, he said.

In response to a statement that Jusuf Kalla had become a presidential aspirant because Golkar was disappointed by a remark by the Democrat Party's second strong man, Paloh said it was totally groundless.

"The nomination is actually a strategic decision. I am sure Kalla in his capacity as the vice president and chairman of the Golkar Party wants to concentrate on something bigger than what be has achieved," Paloh said.

On that occasion, Paloh expressed his high optimism to face the legislative election in 2009 after learning the report of the chairman of the Golkar Party's Central Java chapter.

"It is true that our comming here is to see the preparations being made in the face of this year's general elecion," he said.

The high optimism was supported by extraordinary anthusiasm, spirit and energy of Golkar cadres in Central Java.

"This is actually a crucial record for the party's advisory board as it will strengthen our appreciation and bigger assurance in the future," he said.

According to him, the potential of Golkar party's votes in this province during the 2009 general election will be better than that in the 2004 general election.
