RCO-UNRWA cooperation stressed

Riyadh, Mar. 5 (BNA): Secretary General of the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) Dr, Mustafa Al Sayed met with Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Pierre Krähenbühl, on the sidelines of the Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum. The forum is organised by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre in partnership with the United Nations. It is held under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, in the presence of high profile representatives of local and international institutions.  The RCO Secretary General discussed with the UNRWA Commissioner-General the situation in Gaza and progress of Bahrain’s projects for the Palestinian people there. They also reviewed the impact of closing Bahrain Library at Jabalia Camp, north of the strip, and Bahrain Public Library in Rafah city, south of the strip, following an unprecedented step by UNRWA. The UNRWA Commissioner-General affirmed that despite the lack of human staff suffered by UNRWA following a decision to cut down financial support it is receiving, Bahrain libraries in the strip have been re-operated given their importance and vital role not only for the students of UNRWA’s schools but also hundreds and thousands of refugee readers and intellectuals. The RCO Secretary General hailed the positive step by UNRWA, lauding outstanding cooperation between RCO and the international organization in carrying out development projects for the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip.
