HRH Crown Prince meets US Secretary of Defence

Manama, Mar. 14 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today received US Secretary of Defence James N. Mattis at Riffa Palace. During the meeting, His Royal Highness highlighted the long-standing ties between Bahrain and the US, reinforced by the joint commitment of His Majesty King Hamad and President Donald Trump to further advance cooperation across a range of areas and sectors His Royal Highness welcomed the US Secretary of Defence’s visit to Bahrain and noted the importance of the Bahrain-US defence relationship to supporting regional stability and security His Royal Highness highlighted that Bahrain has served as the United States’ principal naval support facility in the region since 1947, and the strength of defence cooperation between the two countries continues to play an important role in addressing regional challenges, including combatting terrorism His Royal Highness and the US Secretary of Defence then reviewed further ways of advancing the defence relationship and discussed a number of current international issues
