ISLAMIC WORLD PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR BUSINESSWOMEN
Jakarta, March 2 (ANTARA) - The Islamic world provides opportunities for businesswomen to respond to the global challenges also being faced by businessmen in Muslim countries, a spokeswoman said.
"This forum provides businesswomen with a platform to strengthen cooperation among businesswomen from all over the world," Dato Dr. Norraesah Mohamad, chairwomen of the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF)'s Business Network, said here on Sunday at the third WIEF Businesswomen's Forum.
The forum also provided a rare chance for businesswomen to grab business opportunities in cross regions, she said.
The forum discussed among other things best strategies to deal with challenges faced by businesswomen and the unique role of women.
The third Businesswomen's Forum of WIEF was officially opened by Indonesia's Vice President M Jusuf Kalla, on Sunday.
The vice president on his opening speech hoped to see women in Moslem's countries develop entrepreneurship spirit in order to help build their countries as well as bring glory to Islam in the eyes of the world.
"Islam teaches its followers the spirit of independence and entrepreneurship, which is also applied to women as shown by Prophet Mohammed's wife, Siti Khodijah," Kalla said.
The 5th WIEF taking place in Jakarta until Tuesday (March 3), is being attended by around 1,500 participants from 35 countries.
