Representatives Council to discuss NAC human rights principles

Manama, Mar. 17 (BNA): The Council of Representatives will tomorrow hold a panel discussion to shed light on the role played by government sides in activating the human rights foundations enshrined in the National Action Charter (NAC).
Chairman of the Human Rights Committee at the Council of Representatives, MP Abdulrahman Bu Majeed, said that the panel session, to be held under the patronage of Speaker, Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla, is in line with the Speaker’s interest to consolidate human rights principles and activate the recommendations of the NAC Conference, held under His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s patronage last month.
MP Bu Majeed added that representatives of the government and human rights personalities, in addition to MPs, will take part in the panel session, which, he said, will discuss the kingdom’s achievements since the adoption of NAC until now.
He stressed that the human rights culture has become a well-established approach at all levels and in all fields, highlighting the Representatives Council’s keenness on taking advantage of various Arab and international human rights events to boost human rights awareness.
He also praised the level of cooperation and coordination between state departments and the Council of Representatives regarding human rights, which, he said, reflects positively on meetings with international human rights organisations.
