HM King to patronise Mara’ee 2018

Manama, Mar. 17 (BNA): Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the fourth edition of the Bahrain Animal Production Show (Mara’ee) will be held on March 27-31, Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf announced. Mara’ee is one of the largest shows held in Bahrain, and the previous three editions witnessed a record turnout of citizens and residents. Holding the fourth edition of the show under the auspices of HM the King proves the leadership’s interest in animal wealth in the country in order to strengthen food security in the kingdom and boost investment in the sector. Works Minister said that the show, which will be held at the Bahrain Endurance Village, will be open to the public from March 28 to 31, from 09:00 am to 09:00 pm. The minister was speaking while paying a field visit today to the Bahrain Endurance Village to be informed about the latest preparations for this year’s Mara’ee edition. He said that Mara’ee was launched in accordance with the royal vision to promote Bahrain as a hub for international specialised animal production shows, given their role in consolidating food security in the country, adding that the show has evolved into an investment and recreational, as well as a platform for researchers and exhibitors to meet and exchange expertise. He noted that the idea of the show emanates from the Bahraini heritage, which, he said, reflects the depth of the kingdom’s civilisation and history. 90 exhibitors will participate in the cattle, sheep and goat section, where milk and meat production breeds will be presented, and about 1000 bird exhibitors will take part in the five-day show, he added, noting that Mara’ee 4 will provide a good opportunity to exhibitors, as well as cattle and bird traders to sell their products, conclude deals and exchange expertise. The event will also feature shows and competitions, and the winners will be honoured, he also said, adding that there will be pavilions for artistic and scientific shows for children and leasure sites for families. Minister Khalaf said that the current edition is distinguished by its focus on local production and companies, which will enable local producers and companies to enhance and improve the quality of their products.
