Civil Aviation lodges complaint with ICAO

Manama, Mar.27 (BNA): The Civil Aviation Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications announced that it had lodged a complaint with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) after two Qatari warplanes were detected yesterday around 14.35pm(Local time), flying at an altitude of 30,000 feet above the international waters, within Bahrain Flight Information Region (FIR) without prior authorization.
The two fighters flew deliberately under a UAE Airbus 320, with ident/call sign of A6HMS, en route from Fujairah to Rome, prompting Bahrain’s Air Surveillance to intervene and take the necessary measures to ensure aviation safety.
The Emirati A320 jet then engaged in a maneuver and flew at a higher altitude of 35,000 feet to avoid the Qatari fighters, which consistently violate international conventions and jeopardise the movement of civil aviation in the region.
“The irresponsible act was the second in one day to be perpetrated by the Qatari fighters, targeting an Emirati jet”, said the civil Aviation Affairs.
