Shura denounces social media misuses

Manama, Apr. 1 (BNA): The Shura Coucil has strongly condemned attempts to sow discord, threaten social texture and national unity and drive wedges among the Bahraini people through suspicious social media networks. It considered those practices in breach of Bahraini customs and traditions and patriotism, have nothing to do with freedom of expression and a threat to civil peace. The Shura Council affirmed support to all measures taken by the competent authorities to maintain security and stability and foil attempts to sow sedition. It lauded the responsible statement of Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Royal Guard Commander, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee Brigadier Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa who underscored the national fundamentals and the importance of national unity and adherence to the Bahraini inherent customs and traditions, including rallying behind the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The Shura Council praised the honourable stances expressed by all in rallying behind the leadership of HM the King and renouncing the electronic controversies which have nothing to do with the Bahraini customs and traditions. It called on all users of the social media websites to steer clear of such practices and engage patriotically behind the banner of HM the King for the sake of development and to uphold the kingdom's name at international gatherings.
