MALAYSIA UNRAVELS INDONESIAN PASSPORT FORGERY SYNDICATE

Kuala Lumpur, March 3 (ANTARA) - The Malaysian immigration office succeeded in unraveling and crushing a syndicate falsifying Indonesian passports, Malaysian stamps and Indonesian sticker in a raid conducted into a house in Batu 5, Selangor, on Monday.
Deputy Director of Malaysian Immigration office Sulaiman Keling said his side had arrested three Indonesian nationals including a woman at the age of about 20s up to 30s, a Malaysian media reported here on Tuesday.
A person being detained was alleged to be the head of syndicate, while other two were alleged to be part of the syndicate, Sulaiman said.
From raid conducted to that house at 13:30, at least 18 falsified passports of Indonesia, two passports of Albania, four marriage books of Indonesia and 17 types of stamps of Malaysian immigration, one computer and its equipments allegedly used for this activity were confiscated.
The previous confiscation found that the syndicate had set the price of between 30 to 1.200 Malaysian ringgit (Rp960,000 to 3.8 million) to citizens wishing to get forgery passport. For class A, the price is set at 1.200 Malaysian ringgit, 800 ringgit for class B, 250 ringgit for class C and only 30 ringgit for a passport sticker.
This syndicate was allegedly able to process six to seven passports everyday and has operated since the six past month s with an income of about 10,000 ringgit per month, Sulaiman Keling said.
The stamps confiscated from the syndicate are those often used in Klang port of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur international airport, Setulang Laut port of Johor Bahru, Pasir Gudang port of Johor Bahru and Pinang Island International airport.
The three arrestees could be charged of having violated the Law on Immigration No 1959 and if proven guilty, the maximum penalty of about 30,000 ringgit and jail sentence of about five to 10 years could be meted out to them.***
