OIC`s Ihsanoglu calls for boosting economic and intra-OIC trade relations 3 Jeddah

The OIC Secretary General emphasized that among the challenges
confronting the OIC are the vast economic imbalances that exist among
its Member States.

However, he said that this disparity should be viewed as imperative
for cooperation rather than as an obstacle for closer cooperation
among them.

Ihsanoglu concluded his speech by calling on governments and the
business community in all OIC Member States to seek assistance from
the economic institutions of the OIC such as SESRIC, ICDT, IDB and
ICCI in their move towards economic integration.

He declared that the OIC has established a Task Force on Small and
Medium Enterprises (SMEs) under the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (ICCI) in order to establish an environment friendly
atmosphere for project creation, economic growth and greater
production efficiency in the OIC economies through sustainable and
dynamic SME development.
