Bahraini-Indonesian economic relations discussed

Manama, Apr. 10 (BNA): First Vice-Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Khalid Mohammed Najibi, has stressed the importance of stepping up Bahrain’s cooperation with Indonesia through intensifying exchanged visits of trade delegations, participation in joint economic events, opening up new commercial cooperation channels, and pushing investment cooperation forward. Najibi affirmed the Bahraini private sector’s desire to enhance economic and investment relations with friendly Indonesia, and increasing the volume of trade exchange with it in various fields, noting that the opening of a Bahraini embassy in Jakarta will be effective in bolstering bilateral ties, especially the economic and commercial ones. BCCI first vice-chairman was speaking during the meeting held here recently at BCCI premises with an Indonesian parliamentary delegation, led by the Deputy Speaker of Indonesia’s People's Representative Council, Fahri Hamzah, currently on an official visit to Bahrain to discuss issues of common interest. Najibi lauded Indonesia’s diversified economy and investment-stimulating economic sectors, expressing hope that the partnership between the two friendly countries will be strengthened in various fields, including tourism, medicine, education, banks and Islamic banking, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), among others. He also highlighted BCCI’s interest in strengthening relations between the two countries through activating the role of the private sector and increasing joint investments. The two sides expressed hope that direct flights between the countries will be opened, as eth best means to increase trade delegations’ visits and therefore increase bilateral trade volume. Head of the Indonesian delegation welcomed the visits of Bahraini delegations to his country in the coming period to discuss issues of common interest and be informed closely about potential joint projects.  He called for the need to develop bilateral relations commensurate with the available opportunities. He also welcomed enhancing cooperation mechanisms with the BCCI to achieve common interests.
