Arab Peace Initiative Committee starts its works
Cairo, March 03, SPA -- The Arab Peace Initiative Committee held here
today a meeting chaired by Syria the incumbent President of Arab
Summit with the presence of 13 member states.
The delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the meeting was led
by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Saud Al Faisal.
An official source at the Arab League said in a statement today that
the meeting was devoted to discussion and evaluation of all the
efforts of the peace process and opportunities for settlement in the
Middle East and obstacles encountered since the Annapolis conference
to date and the repercussions of the recent Israeli brutal aggression
on the Gaza Strip last.
He said the purpose of the meeting is to develop the Arab stands
in the light of changes in the region, whether Palestinian, Arab or
international ones, especially in light of the American new
administration and appointment of a new U.S. special envoy for the
Middle East. He stressed that these developments call for an Arab
stance to deal with such changes in addition to proceeding ahead with
specific steps for Arab action in the upcoming period.
The meeting assumes significance in view of the Arab stance of
the summit in Kuwait confirming that the Arab Initiative for peace
with Israel will not remain on the table forever.
