Geneva, Mar 3 (PTI) Tata Motors has advanced the booking
date of Nano, touted as the world's cheapest car, in India by
three weeks to coincide with its commercial launch on March 23
in the home country.

"The bookings will start from March 23 and delivery will
start from the first week of April," a senior Tata Motors
official told PTI at the Geneva Motor Show that opened here
Tuesday.

On February 26, Tata Motors, India's largest auto maker,
had said Nano would be launched on March 23, while bookings
would start from the second week of April.

When asked about media reports that the first lot of the
car would be reserved only for celebrities and VIPs, the
official said: "No, the car is not scheduled to be delivered
only to the celebrities."

The company Tuesday unveiled the European version of the
small car at the Geneva Motor Show, which could be
commercially launched by 2011.

The company showcased a sedan - Prima — again for the
first time.

Tata Motors' website featuring Nano has registered 30
million hits or visits since the car, with a base-price tag of
Rs 1,00,000, was first unveiled. It had announced the low-cost
car project in 2006. PTI DG
