Seoul stocks open weaker on financial woes

SEOUL, March 4 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks got off to a weak start Wednesday
as investor sentiment was dented by deepening global financial jitters, analysts
said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) dropped 13.11 points, or
1.28 percent, to 1,012.46 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Leading large-cap shares started sharply lower across the board on continued
massive selling by institutional and foreign investors. Overseas investors are
set to record their 17th-session net selling.
The local currency was trading at 1,561.75 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15
a.m., down 8.75 won from Tuesday's close.
