Volvo to recall 1,247 sedans due to manufacturing defects

SEOUL, March 4 (Yonhap) -- Global automaker Volvo will recall 1,247 sedans in
South Korea due to manufacturing defects, the government said Wednesday.
Subject to the recall is the New S80 D5 model with a diesel engine produced and
imported to the local market between Aug. 31, 2006 and Aug. 14 of last year, the
Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs said in a statement.
Those vehicles have defects in their air-conditioners which have difficulty in
letting out water. This could affect the cars' electric system and cause fire in
the worst case, the ministry explained.
They can get free repairs at Volvo's affiliated service centers starting Thursday.
