LG Electronics launches first 240 Hertz LCD TV in S. Korea

SEOUL, March 4 (Yonhap) -- South Korean electronics maker LG Electronics Co. said Wednesday it has launched sales of the country's first liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs with a refresh rate of 240 Hertz.

A refresh rate of 240 Hertz means screens are updated 240 times per second, which
is twice the refresh rate of the 120-Hz technology currently found in most
existing LCDs.
The manufacturer believes that the 240 Hertz LCD screen will reduce after-images.
LG Electronics said although many South Korean companies have announced their
development of 240 Hertz LCD TVs, it is the first time for them to be on sale in
South Korea.
The new LCD TVs were produced both in 42- and 47-inch models, it said.
