Bahrain-Algeria Joint Committee holds preparatory meeting

Algiers, Apr. 30 (BNA): The preparatory meeting for the second session of the Bahraini-Algerian Joint Committee was held on April 29-30, 2018, in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria at the level of experts from both sides. Participating in the meeting on behalf of Bahrain were Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Regional and GCC Affairs, Ambassador Waheed Mubarak Sayyar, and on behalf of Algeria Ambassador Mohammed Yarki, Director General for Arab countries Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algeria. The two sides discussed the distinguished brotherly relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria and ways to boost them to reach wider horizons and meet the common aspirations of the two brotherly countries and peoples. They also reviewed a number of draft agreements and memorandums of understanding to develop the legal framework for bilateral relations, notably what pertains to cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, industry, investment, customs, stock exchange, tourism, social development, family issues, labour, youth and sports ahead of signing them when the joint committee meets later this year. At the end of the expert groups’ preparatory meeting, the minutes were signed and on the sidelines of the event, Ambassador Sayyar, met with Mr. Rachid Baldhan, Acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. During the meeting, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Regional and GCC Affairs affirmed the depth of brotherly the constantly progressing ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. He also reviewed ways to enhance these relations and promote them to wider horizons in addition to discussing a number of issues of mutual interest.
