SCW welcomes Cabinet resolution on women's advancement

Manama, Apr. 30 (BNA): The Supreme Council for Women (SCW), in a statement issued today, welcomed the Cabinet’s resolution on the preparation of periodic national reports to measure gender balance in government institutions. The cabinet resolution aims to ensure the sustainability of the Bahraini women’s progress, raise their competitiveness and monitor their contributions to the national economic development. It also meets the royal vision for promoting the SCW, led by HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, to ensure the Bahraini women’s advancement. The statement praised the resolution of the Cabinet, chaired by HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and the follow-up of the Coordination Committee led by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, on the preparation of periodic national reports to measure gender balance in the government institutions. By the resolution the SCW, in collaboration with the competent authorities, will be responsible for the preparation and issuance of the report. The resolution also stipulates the establishment of a National Observatory for Gender Balance. The Information and e-Government Authority will be responsible for the observatory, which will serve as a reference regarding the follow-up on measuring the kingdom’s competitiveness in the field of women at the regional and international levels.
