Bapco holds 13th Green School Award ceremony

Manama, May 2 (BNA): The Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) held its 13th Green School Award Ceremony to honour winners of the Bapco Green School Award (2017/2018).
The ceremony was held on 02nd May 2018 at the Bapco Club - Awali, under the patronage of the Minister of Oil, Chairman of Bapco’s Board of Directors HE Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa. Present at the ceremony were Bapco’s Deputy Chief Executive Chairman of EHSC Committee Mr. Ebrahim Talib and the Director of Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education Mr. Ebrahim Ali Burshaid. Also present were members of Bapco’s Board and Management, and key officials of the National Oil & Gas Authority (NOGA) and the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE).
During the ceremony, Mr. Talib delivered a speech in which he said: "Bapco takes great pride in continuing this ambitious program which has remarkably succeeded over the past years in launching a number of key environment projects which have greatly contributed to improving the air quality and waste management, in addition to preserving the environment".
"We are pleased with the outputs of this vital program which is organized annually in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Supreme Council for Environment with the aim of urging our students to introduce new innovative ideas which can be invested in developing environmental projects in the Kingdom", he said. "Bapco has realized the need for urging the citizens and the youth to take an active role in its environmental projects in order to enhance their awareness and positive participation in its major drives aimed at fostering the protection of environment", Mr. Talib added.
At the conclusion, Mr. Talib expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the Minister of Oil the Chairman of Bapco’s Board of Directors HE Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa for his limitless support to Bapco’s social partnership & environment initiatives which aim at fostering the youth of the Kingdom. He also hailed the valued support of the Minister of Education HE Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi and officials of the Ministry of Education and the Supreme Council for Environment for their fruitful cooperation with Bapco. He also thanked the judging and organizing committee members, hailing their active role in the success of the event and in helping to accomplish the desired goals of the Bapco Green School Awards.
This year, the Green School Award witnessed the participation of 21 government secondary schools which displayed a number of key environmental projects and initiatives. Jidhafs Technical Secondary School for Boys won the first place, while Al-Noor Secondary School for Girls and Jidhafs School for Girls won second and third place respectively.
Additionally, the judging and organizing committee members were also awarded at the ceremony for their dedicated efforts in making the ceremony a success.
