Gulf Gateway conference's role praised

Manama, May 8 (BNA): Information Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi described the Gulf Gateway conference as an important platform to explore investment opportunities amid the economic changes undergone by the Arabian Gulf region. The conference is organised by the Economic Development Board (EDB) from May 8 to 10 under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier. In a statement marking the launch of the conference today, Al Romaihi pointed out the massive turnout of 500 investors and top-profile economic officials who will come into direct contact with economic decision-makers from the Gulf countries who are taking part in the major economic event. He added that the conference will cast light on a line-up of projects worth $ 26 billion, including projects worth $ 18 billion ready for investment. The minister also noted that the conference will also shed light on major public and private development projects in Bahrain worth over $ 32 billion including vital economic sectors like industry, logistic services, infrastructure, tourism, healthcare and education. He added that the event is part of the kingdom’s efforts to achieve sustainable economic development, diversify sources of revenues and boost the economic momentum that derives its strength from Bahrain’s strategic location, streamlined investment regulations and qualified competencies.  The Information Minister considered the conference as an opportunity to highlight the economic and investment privileges in the Arabian Gulf, pointing out the ministry’s media cooperation with relevant parties to ensure successful coverage of the mega event.
