FOURTEEN MISSING IN BOAT COLLISION NORTH OF JAKARTA
Jakarta, Mar 5 (ANTARA) - A cargo boat, Rimba III, sank early Thursday after colliding with a tugboat, Harapan Indah VII, in Pulau Seribu Islands waters north of Jakarta, causing the disappearance of 14 people including a child.
Twelve people were rescued after the sea incident which occurred at 3 am local time, Senior Commissioner Zulkarnain, a spokesman of the Jakarta Police, said here on Thursday.
"The cargo boat loaded with cement was on its way from Tanjungpriok to Kalimantan while the tugboat was sailing from Lampung to Marunda on the Jakarta coast ," he said.
The Jakarta Water Police mobilized seven patrol boats to search for the 14 missing people in a joint rescue effort with the Navy and the Pulau Seribu police.***
