JAPAN PROMISES WIDER COOPERATION WITH PPHKI
Bandarlampung, March 6 (ANTARA) - The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) promised to step up cooperation with Indonesia's intellectual rights violation eradication national team in a bid suppress the piracy of illegal software in Indonesia.
"Japan really understands Indonesia's condition of intellectual rights-related problems of high piracy rates," JICA expert on industrial property rights management Kazuya Miyamoto said here on Thursday.
According to him, the cooperation will involve law enforcers, higher learning institutions and research agencies.
Therefore, he added, JICA preferred to cooperate with national team of the intellectual rights violation eradication covering different sectors with strong impact on the community.
The cooperation covers seminars and workshops on intellectual rights issues, law enforcers , and related higher learning institutions.
Miyamoto explained that cooperation with the national team has been running for four years and each year at least four seminars and workshops had been held to discuss law enforcers, and higher learning institutions, and research agencies.
This year, he added, his office will provide a special training for personnel of the Tax and Excise Directorate General to identify illegal software products at the points of entry into the country of the goods.
In addition, JICA will also provide the most effective way to identify illegal and legal software products.
