FLASH FLOODS INUNDATE TUBAN AND BOJONEGORO
Bojonegoro, East Java Province, March 6 (ANTARA) - Flash floods have inundated several villages at Parengan sub district in Tuban District, as well as Turuck sub district in Bojonegoro District, East Java Province, due to the overflowing of Bengawan Solo river.
Incessant downpours triggered the inundation, Suprapto, coordinator of Tuban's Bengawan Solo water resource management office, said here on Friday.
The floodwaters reaching a height of 75 centimeters submerged hundreds of houses at several villages, he said.
"Motor vehicles cannot pass on the flood-affected villages' roads," Satia, a resident of Suciharjo village, said.
A flood had earlier hit Beji village at Kedewan sub district, and invaded around 50 houses.
Floods also submerged around 34 houses at Mbesah village, Kasiman sub district, and 42 houses at Kalisari village, Baureno sub district.
The water level of Bengawan Solo floods continued to rise and might again invade Kanor and Widang sub districts in Bojonegoro.
Early this week, a flood triggered by the overflowing of Bengawan Solo River, had swept away three houses and seriously damaged nine others at Kanor sub district.
The houses were located near a 10-meter-long dam of Bengawan Solo river at Sembambung village, which had broken down recently.
