Tribute to nation-builder; philanthropist

Manama, June 5 (BNA): Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) mourned the sad demise of its chairman His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al-Khalifa. It extended heartfelt condolences to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier. It also offered deepest condolences to the deceased’s sons, the people of Bahrain, the volunteers working with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement worldwide. It paid homage to the deceased, adding that Bahrain, the region and The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement have lost, with his death, a key pillar who spared no effort to promote humanitarian relief aid. It saluted the deceased’s rich legacy and prolific and dedicated lifetime national, regional and international contributions and participations over the past decades, extending lifeline and donations to the victims of wars and natural disasters. Born in 1922, late HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al-Khalifa was among the veteran and pioneering builders of the modern state of Bahrain. He played a crucial role in developing the Bahrain Red Crescent Society since its establishment in the 1970s. He left a rich legacy which included culture, literature and history.
