Vice police chief tapped to lead Korea Coast Guard
SEOUL, March 8 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Myung-bak Sunday appointed Lee Gil-bum, vice chief of the National Police Agency (NPA), as head of the Korea Coast Guard, the presidential office said.
Born in Suncheon, South Jeolla Province, the nominee has served in key police
posts after graduating from Seoul's Konkuk University.
He will succeed Kang Hee-rak, who has been named to replace Eo Cheong-soo as
commissioner of NPA. Eo retired in January.
Kang went through a parliamentary confirmation hearing last week and is scheduled
to take the post Monday.
