HM King’s directives to reconsider pension laws hailed

Manama, June 21 (BNA): Shura Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh hailed the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the government to reconsider the proposed pension laws in cooperation with Parliament to ensure continuous capability of the pension funds to fulfill their obligations towards future generations. "Meeting HM the King reflects his keenness on consultation and discussion of various national issues in the interest of the homeland and citizens in addition to His Majesty’s keenness to develop the pension system in Bahrain to ensure the rights of citizens and to ensure financial stability of the pension funds through development of investment areas and to develop them to boost the diversification of sources of income that reflect in the improvement of the standard of services provided to the pensioners in future," Al Saleh said. Al Saleh lauded His Majesty’s wisdom and directives to ensure the cooperation between the legislative and executive branches, as well as the King’s directives to provide more opportunity to finalize the consultations over both bills of law without hastening them, in the manner that ensures continuous capability of the pension funds to fulfill their obligations towards future generations and to preserve citizens’ rights. He added that "We highly value the keenness of His Majesty on the role of the legislature and its engagement in political decision-making, and we hope to translate His Majesty’s directives to unify the ranks and converge around the interest of the homeland and citizens. He added that the Shura Council will continue to cooperate with the Council of Representative and the Government to find common grounds to achieve the aspirations of His Majesty as well as those of the citizens, and to protect the nation from divisionism and splitting. He reaffirmed the council’s continuous endeavour to preserve the Kingdom’s accomplishments and build on them to achieve further progress, reform, sustainable development goals that mirror the vision of His Majesty the King, praying to Allah the Almighty to help HM the King in successfully boosting the progress of our beloved homeland and perpetuate the graces of security, safety, amity, unity and peace in the interest of the nation and its citizens.
