S. Korea slams China 14-0 in WBC, advances to quarter finals

TOKYO, March 8 (Yonhap) -- South Korea thrashed China 14-0 in a repechage at the 2009 World Baseball Classics on Sunday, advancing to the quarter-finals to be held in the United States later this week.

South Korea, which lost to Japan 2-14 on Saturday, beat China in a called game
after seven innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.
The victory set up a rematch for South Korea with Japan on Monday to compete for
the first spot in the Asian pool for the WBC competition slated to open in San
Diego on Saturday.
South Korea broke the game open in the fourth inning when third baseman Lee
Bum-ho hit a two-run homer to give his side a 4-0 lead. The team later added five
more runs in the fifth inning and another five in the sixth to end the game.
