World Heritage Committee meeting to convene tomorrow

Manama, June 23 (BNA): The 42nd meeting of the World Heritage Committee will convene tomorrow under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Bahrain National Museum will host the opening ceremony of the session which will be presided by Bahrain. General Director of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Audrey Azoulay will attend the celebration alongside diplomatic and media personalities, specialists and representatives of many countries from around the world. The 42nd meeting of the World Heritage Committee will convene from June 24 to July 4 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel’s UNESCO Village which was built particularly for the event. The meeting will feature many activities and discussion sessions that will spotlight heritage sites to be registered on the World Heritage List and other issues. Participants, including more than 2000 experts and 140 media persons from across the world will have a chance to visit the kingdom’s historical landmarks and museums which reflect Bahrain’s rich history and civilisation.
