HRH Crown Prince congratulated by Labour minister

Manama, June 29 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, has received a congratulatory cable from the Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, on the kingdom’s strides in combating trafficking in persons. The minister extended sincere congratulations to HRH the Crown Prince on the upgrading of Bahrain to Tier 1 status by the US State Department 2018 Trafficking in Persons Report (TIP). The minister stressed that such a historic achievement was attained thanks to HRH Crown Prince’s enlightened visions, pioneering initiatives, constant follow-up and sound directives to the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons and all the relevant authorities, particularly the Foreign Affairs Ministry. Such institutions have succeeded in giving an honourable image in implementing the best human rights preservation practices, in general, and those of the expatriate workers, in particular, Humaidan said. He also affirmed that the pioneering projects and the executive and organisational procedures taken by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), as well as the legal and protectionist measures taken by various government departments have also played an effective role in reducing trafficking in humans’ cases in Bahrain. He also highlighted the kingdom’s provision of integrated services for the victims of trafficking in humans, which enabled it to enjoy a prestigious status at the regional and international levels. The minister asserted that Bahrain’s successive accomplishments regarding the consolidation of human rights protection, particularly securing the rights of workers and the provision of a safe work environment in accordance with the international labour standards, will stimulate the kingdom to further develop its services, practices and legislation that serve human resources, who are the best guarantors for ensuring sustainable comprehensive development at all levels.
