Interior Ministry’s team to FATF in Paris hailed

Manama, July 11 (BNA) : Interior Minister, Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received here today the Interior Ministry’s team that took part in the Financial Action Task Force (on Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing ) (FATF ) in Paris. During meeting, the Financial Intelligence Directorate of the Interior Ministry was ranked in a level similar to many developed countries. The minister welcomed the team members, expressing appreciation of efforts that led to the approval of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s reports in relations to the commitment to recommendations, criteria and procedures of the FAFT in the Middle East and North Africa area and the acknowledgement of Bahrain's money laundering and terrorism financing efforts. He valued the competency and excellence of the team in performing related tasks and to keep up with the development of money laundering and terrorism financing crimes, in addition to the commitment to international standards.  He highlighted the dedication of the Interior Ministry to continue cooperation and coordination with regional and international organisations and commitment to international principles and agreements.
