BEI SUSPENDS TRADING IN SCHERING PLOUGH SHARES

Jakarta, March 10 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) has decided to suspend trading in PT Schering Plough Indonesia Tbk. (SCPI) shares in all markets starting at the first trading session on Tuesday, March 10, 2009.

BEI ordered the suspension following a report that US$31 billion worth of Schering shares had been acquired by Merck, Supandi, the head of BEI's stock trading division, said here on Tuesday.
The suspension was to remain effective pending an explanation from Schering about its reported transaction with Merck. An explanation was in order for the sake of orderly, efficient and normal stock trading, Supandi said.
He hoped Schering would remain transparent and be able to provide further information concerning the matter.
