TWO CIVILIANS SHOT DEAD BY UNIDENTIFIED GUNMEN IN PAPUA
Jayapura, Papua Province, March 10 (ANTARA) - Two civilians were shot dead by unknown armed group members at Puncak Senyum, Mulia, Puncak Jaya District, Papua, early Tuesday.
The two victims were motorcycle taxi ('ojek') drivers, while their two passengers were injured in the shooting and stabbing incident.
The dead and injured victims were admitted to Mulia Regional General Hospital, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Criss Rihulay, head of the Puncak Jaya Police office, said.
The policeman explained that the four victims were on their way from Mulia to Illu when they were suddenly shot and stabbed at Puncak Senyum.
The 'ojek' drivers were identified as Zainal (25) and Ach. Solihan (35). They died after being shot and stabbed.
The injured passengers were Lince Telenggen (19) and Yogile Kiwo (30). They suffered from gun shot wounds.
Police could not confirm the perpetrators of the shooting and stabbing.
"We are still investigating in the site of the incident, while the injured victims are still unable to give information," Adjunct Senior Commissioner Criss Rihulay said.
