ELECTION C'TTEE IN SYDNEY, MELBOURNE RECEIVES 2009 POLL LOGISTICS



Brisbane, March 10 (ANTARA)- The Overseas Election Committee (PPKN) 2009 in Sydney and Melbourne has received logistics packages to be distributed to 28,887 constituents in Australia, a spokesman said.

The general election logistics which were among other things in the form of ballot papers and ink would be distributed to the would be voters in the states of New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania, the Sydney PPLN secretary, Pratito Soeharyo said here Tuesday.
To date, however, the PPLN committee in Sydney and Melbourne has yet opened the general election packages, Pratito said, adding that Indonesian consulate general in Sydney was now still handling the delivery document of the one-ton general election logistics package from Australia's customs and excise department.
"But, it is our target to take out the general election logistics this week," he said.
In a bid to make the general election a success, the Sydney PPLN had established 14 overseas organizing vote cast groups (KPPSLN) in effort to provide services for at least 17,187 registered would be voters in New South Wales, Queensland, and South Australia.
In addition, the Melbourne PPLN had also received general election logistics package of 500 kg weigh.
A total of 11,700 registered constituents in Melbourne PPLN would be able to cast votes through postal ballots, at 22 polling booths or through moving polling booths, the spokesman said.
Indonesia's general elections commission (KPU) will carry out the legislative general election on April 9 this year, while the direct presidential elections will be conducted in July 2009.
Some 38 political parties and six local parties in Nanggore Aceh Darussalam (NAD) province will take part in the general elections.
