Bahraini-British Joint Working Group convenes

London, July 19 (BNA): The Bahraini-British Joint Working Group held its meeting today under the co-chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and the Minister of State for the Middle East at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Alistair Burt.
The meeting discussed the progress of relations between the two kingdoms and means of enhancing them, especially in areas of security, counterterrorism, military cooperation, transportation, communication, aviation, energy, industry, trade, education and science and innovation, human rights, combating trafficking in persons, environmental and space issues.
It also looked into how to seize all opportunities to advance bilateral relations and continue joint and effective coordination on various issues on all occasions for the benefit of the two countries and friendly peoples and to contribute to the efforts seeking peaceful solutions to the issues and problems of the region and to establish security worldwide.
The two sides underscored the importance of the Bahraini-British Joint Working Group’s meeting in pushing forward joint action to achieve the aspirations of the two countries and the two friendly peoples and push for closer relations between them.
The two sides exchanged views on the most important developments on the regional and international arenas and issues of interest to the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Supreme Council for Environment in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, represented by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS).
Present at the meeting were the Transportation and Telecommunications Minister, Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Public Security Chief, Major General Tariq Al-Hassan and a number of senior officials from various official bodies and others in Bahrain.
