POSTAL BALLOT VOTERS IN A'LIA MUST GIVE PRIOR NOTICE
Brisbane, March 10 (ANTARA) - The Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) 2009 in Sydney has asked registered constituents in the states of New South Wales, Queensland, and South Australia who wish to vote by postal ballots to notify the Sydney PPLN not later than March 12.
The registered would-be voters were asked to notify the Sydney PPLN through short text message (SMS) to mobile phone no. 0434311758, email to ppln@pemilusydney2009.com, ppln.sydney@gmail.com, or by fax to no. 93496854, according to the Sydney PPLN on Tuesday.
The information said that would-be voters who wanted to confirm their plan to use postal ballots should also enclose copies of their passports on the ballot papers which would be sent back to the Sydney PPLN.
The circular signed by the Sydney PPLN chairman Jon Soemarjono, and his secretary, Pratito Soeharyo, said that the consitituents who would cast votes at the polling stations should bring passports and a kind of invitation letters (to vote) with them.
On April 9, 2009, the polling stations personnel on duty would do their task from 9.00 a.m. till 7.00 p.m. local time.
In a bid to make the general election a success, the Sydney PPLN had established 14 overseas organizing vote cast groups (KPPSLN) in effort to provide services for at least 17,187 registered would be voters in New South Wales, Queensland, and South Australia.
A total of 11,700 registered constituents in Melbourne PPLN would be able to cast votes through postal ballots, at 22 polling booths or through moving polling booths.
Indonesia's general elections commission (KPU) will carry out the legislative general election on April 9 this year, while the direct presidential elections will be conducted in July 2009.
Some 38 political parties and six local parties in Nanggore Aceh Darussalam (NAD) province will take part in the general elections.
