HH Khalid bin Hamad's sports initiatives praised

Manama, July 24 (BNA): The 6th Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League, held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association and Honorary President of Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation, has continued to receive celebrity guests and spectators, who hurled praises on HH Shaikh Khalid’s initiatives. Organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in partnership with the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, from 24th June to 9th August 2018, the league is part of HH’s initiatives in support of youth in sports and humanitarian fields. The league is held this year with the wide participation of youth centres, national clubs, young women, disabled individuals, ministries and communities. Enriching the Sports March President of the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation, Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa, praised the pioneering initiatives of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, saying: "We believe that HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa is taking good steps to promote sports for those who are disabled. This category is greatly regarded by HH, so he is always keen to involve them in all his initiatives, giving them the opportunity to advance their talents." Brilliant Initiatives for the Disabled From his part, Dr Abdulrahman Al Sayed, President of the Association for Parents of Disabled, said: "On behalf of all the parents of the disabled, we wish to extend our gratitude and appreciation to HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his dedication to initiatives that include them in various sports and cultural events. This has contributed to a notable development in their technical, sports and social skills, making them more interactive with their surrounding society, which has always been our objective." Special Olympics Thrash Friendship Society for the Blind The Special Olympics team thrashed the Friendship Society for the Blind 21-0 in their opening game of the 6th Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League in Group 1, held at Khalifa Sports City on Monday. Ali Abbas contributed six goals to the winners to take home the best player of the match award. Meanwhile, Akbar Salman’s hat-trick inspired Deaf Committee team to defeat Challenging Disability team 6-3. He was named the best man of the match too. In Group 2, Motor Disability team defeated Al Muhafizeen 5-1. Ali Hijres of Motor Disability team was named the best man of the match thanks to his efforts during the game. In the last match of the day, the Bahraini Deaf Association earned a deserved 6-1 victory at the expense of the Cerebral Palsy. Hussain Isa scored three for the victors and bagged the best man of the match award.
