Mekong River highly rises by Nong Khai
NONG KHAI, July 25 (TNA) -- The level of the forcefully flowing Mekong River is rising rapidly by Nong Khai province damaging about 4,000 local fish cages.
Meanwhile, torrential rain has caused landslides in Tak province.
The Mekong River’s level in the northeastern province of Nong Khai was 10.19 meters at the local Office of Water Management and Hydrology.
Local officials however expected the level to subside soon.
In Bueng Kan province, heavy rain raised the level of the Mekong River to 11 meters in Saen Charoen village.
The level rose by 1.20 meters from yesterday. Local marine officials advised boat passengers to wear life vests and prohibited small fishing boats from operating in the river. They also confirmed that the dam collapse in Laos had no impacts on Bueng Kan.
In Tak, heavy rain finally resulted in landslides on many sections of border roads in Huai Manok, Mae Tawor and Mae Jawang villages of Tha Song Yang district in Tak and the roads were almost impassable.
Local authorities were trying to clear the ways and repair damaged road sections.
Meanwhile, a flood embankment of Ban Mae Salid Luang Witthaya School in Tha Song Yang was ruptured with a 20-meter-long opening.
Floods were receding in Mae Sot district while officials were handing out consumer products to affected people. (TNA)
