NIHR-ICRC cooperation discussed

Manama, July 25 (BNA): The National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR)'s Chairperson, Maria Khoury, has received the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)'s newly-appointed representative to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Renaud Carvalho. NIHR’s Vice-Chairman, Abdulla Ahmed Alderazi, and Commissioner, Deena Abdulrahman Alladhi, were present. Khoury welcomed the visit of ICRC’s representative, and discussed with him ways to enhance NIHR-ICRC cooperation in the human rights field. She praised the important role played by ICRC in consolidating and promoting the human rights culture, and in developing the skills and capabilities of its affiliates. ICRC representative expressed sincere appreciation to the NIHR for the warm welcome accorded to him, praising the NIHR’s efforts to foster and promote the human rights culture. He also expressed his readiness to cooperate with the NIHR and provide it with the necessary support in order to achieve common goals.
