Bahrain to mark World Day Against Trafficking in Persons
Manama, July 29 (BNA): Bahrain will join the world in marking the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons which is observed on July 30 as approved by the UN General Assembly in its meeting in December 2013.
Bahrain has proved its resolve in combating this issues and setting a pioneering international model in confronting this internationally-rated crime which earned it Tier 1 status in the US Department of State Trafficking in Persons (TiP) Report.
Chief Executive of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Head of the National Anti-Human Trafficking Committee Osama bin Abdullah Al Absi underline the importance of the occasion, congratulating the world and Bahrain on the occasion. He stressed that trafficking in persons is in breach of all religious principles as it violates human dignity and contravenes all human principles guaranteed by the national legislation that are in tune with international standards.
Al Absi pointed out Bahrain’s efforts to fight human trafficking within the framework of a national strategy, underlining keenness on combating the crime and stressing the kingdom's attractiveness for expatriates as shown in many reports.
