Scarlett case: CBI wants to know why Fiona suspects Naiks
Panaji, Mar 11 (PTI) India's premier investigative
agency, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) questionnaire
for Fiona Mackewon, the mother of raped and murdered Scarlett
Eden Keeling, produced before a Goa court includes a question
as to why she suspects the involvement of state Home Minister
Ravi Naik and his son Roy in her daughter's death.
The CBI intends to put forward the queries to Fiona and
another Britisher Charles Carter, who is a prime witness in
the case.
"It has also appeared in a section of the media that you
suspected Ravi Naik/Roy Naik were behind Scarlett's death. Why
do you believe that?," the question reads.
However, Fiona's lawyer, Vikram Varma, had said that
there was no evidence on record to prove the involvement of
the father-son duo.
In yet another important question, the CBI has also
sought to know whether Fiona was suspecting involvement of
Scarlett's Goan friend Julio Lobo in her death.
"Do you suspect Julio Lobo for murder? If yes, then
why?," the question reads.
The CBI has also expressed its intentions to ask Fiona
about her impression about Julio and how was his relation with
Scarlett.
"How did you and Scarlett came in contact with Julio?,"
the question adds.
The investigating agency had attached the questionnaire
along with an application seeking a letter rogatory from Goa
Children's Court here, which rejected the plea last Friday.
The investigating agency officials had stated that a
letter of request was essential so that judicial authorities
in UK could record Fiona and Charles' statements.
Unhappy with the Goa police investigations in the case,
Fiona had insisted that CBI should take over the probe.
After initial reluctance, Goa government handed over the
case to CBI, whose investigations are still on. PTI RPS
