Seoul stocks open higher on U.S. gains


SEOUL, March 12 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks opened slightly higher on
Thursday, heartened by overnight Wall Street gains, analysts said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) inched up 0.52 points, or
0.05 percent, to 1,128.03 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
U.S. stocks closed higher on Wednesday, eking out their first two-day gain in
more than a month. The Dow Jones industrial average gained 0.06 percent and the
tech-heavy Nasdaq rose 0.98 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,483.7 to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15 a.m.,
down 12.7 won from Wednesday's close.
