Renewable energy use encouraged

Manama, Aug. 15 (BNA): Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza said the Sustainable Energy Unit encourages establishments and individuals to use renewable energy in homes and facilities as well as commercial and industrial establishments. The minister said that this encouragement aims to achieve major goals, including the rationalization of electricity consumption, which is a national and environmental demand. It also contributes part of the amount of monthly utility bills and enables users to sell electricity to the national grid through the net metering system. This came as the minister received today Fouad Al Khayyat and discussed with him procedures and steps required to benefit from solar energy in homes and facilities. The citizen said he has applied for installation of solar energy systems in his under construction building to benefit from the advantages of this system. Al Khayat listened to a detailed explanation from the minister in this regard and expressed his appreciation to the minister and the officials of the Sustainable Energy Unit for the welcome and the hospitality.
