NIHR receives US Ambassador

Manama, Aug 15 (BNA): President of the National Institutions for Human Rights, Maria Khoury, today discussed with US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Justin Siberell, ways to activate training programmes aimed at promoting and protecting human rights. Khoury pointed out the importance of the annual reports raised to HM the King, which contain the human rights situation in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in addition to other NIHR reports on the comprehensive periodic review. The US Ambassador praised the NIHR’s role in defending human rights, as well as Bahrain’s efforts to combat trafficking in persons. Khoury said the NIHR has been working together with the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons to follow up the expat worker's cases through the Expat Protection Center, which it has opened in Sihla, in addition to providing a hotline to receive complaints (80001144).
