Aichi-Thailand Industrial Innovation Center expected to be opened in Bangkok
BANGKOK, August 23 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Industry has proposed the opening of the Aichi-Thailand Industrial Innovation Center in Bangkok, under the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), in which small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Thailand can learn on advanced 4.0 industries.
Thai Industry Minister Uttama Savanayana told journalists on August 22 his ministry has proposed that a JETRO center tasked with gathering information on investment in Thailand establish the center.
Uttama said his ministry has also proposed that the Aichi-Thailand Industrial Innovation Center be located at the Industry Transformation Center (ITC) in Bangkok, which has been jointly set up by his ministry and the Ministries of Science and Technology and Digital Economy and Society.
The minister acknowledged that the proposed Aichi-Thailand Industrial Innovation Center could also become a new industrial research and development center and could play a key role on creating networks between Thai and Japanese firms investing in the Thai government-supported Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Project in the local-to-local platforms.
According to the minister, he raised the proposals during his Wednesday's meeting with a team of visiting senior officials from Japan's Aichi Prefecture, where manufacturing bases of Toyota Motor Corporation and Denso Corporation are located.
The minister revealed that the latest visit to Bangkok by the Aichi senior officials was aimed to move forward a plan on developing connected industries between Japan and Thailand, first raised during his trip to Japan last month, as one-third of Japanese investment projects in the Thai economy have come from the Aichi Prefecture.
