POLITICAL PARTIES SHOULD LEAD CORRUPTION ERADICATION EFFORT : LEGISLATOR
Semarang, March 12 (ANTARA) - Political parties should act as pioneers in corruption eradication in the country, said Zuber Safawi, a member of the House's Commission representing the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).
"Political parties have the power to recruit and groom their ' cadres," Zuber said after a discussion forum on the general election goes to campus, the theme of which is about Accelarated Bureaucratic Reform and Corruption Eradication in Indonesia at the auditorium of the Diponegoro state university building here on Thursday.
An effort to combat corruption conducted by political parties could be started from the process of recruitment of their cadres up to the selection of legislative nominees.
Political parties' cadres who have no the commitment to combat corruption should not be nominated for legislative post.
In the meantime, a politician of the National Mandate Party (PAN), Alvian Lie who acted a speaker on that occasion said the effort to fight corruption will be more optimal if started from the top.
"Clean attitude of the power elite should be made as a lesson," said Alvin Lie who is also a member of the House's Commission VII of the PAN party.
According to him, he was optimistic that the corruption could be eradicated if it was started from the top authority of the country either those in legislative, executive or judicative.
In addition, the process of corruption eradication would be more optimal if it was insisted and guided by the people.
